Type Camp
Started in 2007, Type Camp has taught thousands of people all across the globe about typography. Type Camp has 3 types of camps that they host: Creative Residential Retreat, Cultural Immersion Learning, and Professional Urban Training. Creative Residential Retreats are usually held in the countryside and are multiple day seminars where you are taught typography skills in a relaxing setting to let your creative nature flow. Cultural Immersion Learning combines the adventure of world travel and typography. This camp immerses participants in the local type culture of the city the camp gets held in (which varies). Type Camp uses this multi-day seminar to host local experts and take participants on trips around the locations get a better understanding of local type culture.
Type Camp Vancouver
This year Type Camp is coming to Vancouver! On June 28, 2014 Type Camp will hold a Professional Urban Training seminar in Fluevog’s Gastown location. It will be a one-day seminar focusing on Pointed Pen Hand Lettering. Attendees will be able to learn the basics about pointed pen while creating their own script alphabet. They will also go home with your very own pack of tools to keep mastering the skill. Although this one day seminar is on the pricier side, for someone looking to learn how to create your own font this sounds like heaven.
